When my daughter was less than a year old, I used to take her to an elderly, shut-in neighbor's house to visit.  We went about once a week for a little over a year.  About the time my daughter turned 2, we found out our friend was in the hospital.  My daughter made a get-well card for her (as well as a 2-year old can do) and we had it delivered it to the hospital.  We never got to see our neighbor again because she passed away shortly thereafter.  I learned later from her daughter how special those visits were to both of them.

I tell you this story not to boast but to illustrate that even simple acts of kindness can turn into great acts of service before our very eyes.  I believe that, along with other followers of Christ, I am the hands and feet of Jesus and it is my responsibility to show compassion to my fellow man in whatever ways God lays on my heart.  I'm not always obedient like I should be, but when I do listen and obey, He does some pretty cool things with my hands and feet.  I can never take the credit for His works, but I can share in the joy of the results.
